THE UNINTENTIONAL LIFE STYLE

Shadrac was born and brought up in a typical village, his father was a hardworking farmer who believed  in Education tremendously.

His father Tersoo  would  adviced Shadrach alongside his siblings to consider Education as number one priority no matter what.

" Education is a key to success" he would  say. Though the father was not that rich but  was a local champion in his village, and would do his best to ensure his children school fees is paid timely.

Shadrach was his father's first male child, though the father had other female children who aged shady but  were married.

As the first male child attention were given to him greatly, his parents alongside his siblings would treat him as an egg.

His father was a diabetic patient who  had been living on drugs.  Shadrach was in Jss 3, when his father's sickness Rose and he was taken to a private hospital at the Benue state capital called "makurdi" to no avail as he lost his father in the cold hands of death.

Shady was in the village ensuring that everything went well while his mother was in the hospital with his dad when the  sad incident  occurred.

His mother owned Nokia 16/100 touch light phone whom she used to break the sad news, shady did not has a phone then, therefore the mother called her husband's friend to brea

Broke the sad news.

Shady just returned  from the farm when his father's friend came.

He wore a Haggard and a mournful mask, shady notice his sad mood from afar and moved towards him slowly, and stammered a question: " wha wha what has happened to my father?" His father's friend shook his head and tears began to flow out  of his eyes in the same way streams flows into the river.

He did not need an eye glasses to  put on before reading and interpreting what was written on the wall, he shook his head sorrowfully with his eyes full of tears and sighed heavily then he rushed inside the parlor and knelt where a picture of mother Mary was hung on the wall.

He prayed and asked God to take charge of the family's affairs as they  no  longer have any one to look onto.

Life became a mess after his father was buried, his mother was a very hard-working woman, she would try her best to heed to her husband's last word which was: " no matter the turbulence ensure you train my children academically".

After secondary education, things were not easy for shady, he left his village for Abuja while he was fifteen years old.He was not told by Frank who called him in Abuja that he would be doing site work, though in the village he hardly do hard work, his duty was to spray herbicide and cutoff shrubs in the farm for people working for his father ( now a dead man) shady did not believe he will ever lay bricks in his life, He was surprised when Frank took him to a block industry in Abuja.

"This is where I work, and this is where we are going to be working" said Frank.  Shady was too flabbergasted to usher a word, He thought of going back to the village but he  reasoned that his mother would laugh the hell out of him because she convinced him not to traveled to no avail.

Afterall, those doing this work are human, if they can, I can, he reasoned.

He vowed not to tell his mother cause the mother would not allow him do the job.

Shady made everyone's day in the block industry when he  first held a shovel, everyone laughed so unease, he never mind anyone and was so busy with his work.

The work was paid weekly and base on how one works ( what site workers could call " counting") after one week shady was paid the sum of twelve thousand naira, he was very excited even though some workers were saying the week was a bad one as they did not get what they use to get weekly. to him it was a huge amount of money.

After the payment Frank alongside his friends suggested for outing, Shady thought within himself that restaurant would be a good  place for such outing, though he believed in " save today and spend tomorrow" but would sometimes on seeing a mouth of a dead man, he would think of how  folly it is, for one not eating what he has while alive.

He welcomed the idea of outing, believing it could be to a restaurant only for Frank and his friends to took him to a bar.

It was one of the best bar in zdidu, sabon lugbe, Abuja. Frank alongside his friends and shady sat down in the bar, shady glanced at a young lady who was smoking cigarette, while  Frank ordered drinks.  "I Know you people's choice except this one" The bar man said referring to shady, what should I bring for you sir? He asked. A bottle of malt will make sense replied shady.

"Is like this my oga na pastor oo" said the bar man jokingly. Shady smiled gently and focused more on his java phone.

The drink was served and everyone was doing justice to his drink when a young lady smoking the cigarettes moved towards their table, her name was Jane as was called by the bar man, she was still smoking the cigarette. shady was not comfortable with the aroma of the cigarette. why will a young lady like this tarnish her future all in the name of cigarette? He asked quietly. She moved closer the more and said " how far" demanding a handshake from frank. Frank shook hands with her tightly and  drew her closer to him,  she smiled briefly with a deep breath and began to dance with Frank. It was not an ordinary dance as she was rubbing her bombom on Frank's manhood. Shady was mad at frank, why will he join her to disgrace himself this way? He asked quietly. The young lady notice his sad mood , she stopped dancing and moved closer to shady and said: " oga pastor how far nah?" Demanding to shake hands with him. He sighed heavily and said: " termites do not build their shede  on water" ignoring her request. She smiled briefly and said softly: " bush animals do not complain of itching body" meaning she is use to insultive words and she no longer feel pain whenever someone insults her. To be continued
