LISTEN TO PEOPLE IRRESPECTIVE OF THEIR STATUS

Many of us choose who to listen to, and who is not to be listen to, we don't mind whether they have a point or not, we don't mind if they have something to offer, either good nor bad, as far as they are not our class of people to listen to, we  shut our ears.

 Sometimes ago I was shortlisted to undergo a training, A training that would have bettered  my life in journalism profession, unfortunate for me I lost my phone at gun point few days before the names of people who were to undergo the training were out. I was notified by a friend that the list was out and he checked for me, but my name wasn't there. 

I rushed to his apartment and checked but my name wasn't there truly, unknown to us that another list was yet to be out, I returned home and forgot about the training.

 The night before the training I slept in my friend's house, he was to undergo the training too. He slept and forgot about the  training, I woke him up and reminded him to bath and prepare himself for the training by 7am. 

He bathed and left for the training, I left his house by 9 am for lectures, after the lectures I passed by to check on him by 12 pm;  only for a young lady who  stood out in her beauty to stammered a question: " Tsegba ar ar are you just coming? I smiled gently and said: I am not shortlisted.  "What are you saying?  But I saw your name, are you not Tsegba Vanenge?" She brought out her phone and showed me my name. 

I rushed inside the training hall and narrated everything to the trainers, they listen so empathetically and referred me to an office were I would find solution. It was an office of a no nonsense professor, I rushed to the office and entered at the entrance where his assistants sat, and demanded: "I would like to see Prof"  what for? They asked. 

I narrated, and they listen pitifully. We are sorry you have a genuine reason but he might not listen to you, but you can try your luck. I knocked on his office door fearfully, then I entered with a fearful voice: "good day sir" what do you want? He responded, before three words could come out of my mouth he shouted:" and you are just coming, get out of my office!" The truth is as elders and public office holders sometimes due to the unserious nature of this younger generation we are so fast to conclude that they are not serious and have nothing to offer so we don't listen to them, forgetting that some of these youths are elders in  youthful form. Listen to everyone irrespective of their status they might have a reasonable point.
